If you are looking for information on what you should be doing to get your online business up and running and into profit, a good place to start would be how are you going to set up your sales funnel. What is a sales funnel I hear you ask, well if you’re hoping to make money online, and you have never heard of the term “sales funnel”, then listen up, as this is what all top internet marketers use to develop their leads to make more sales.
First things first, don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have a clue on what a sales funnel is, I didn’t know anything about them either when I first started getting interested in internet marketing, nobody does, just be glad that you have found out now, and at last you can put together a proven business module which will supply the fuel, powering your business on autopilot.
In basic terms a sales funnel is where you send visitors to the start of your funnel, feed them into a system, and after the system has done its job, you get sales at the other end. When you have mastered an effective and profitable way of generating sales, you then ramp up your efforts to make more sales, rinse and repeat, a truly wonderful thing, it’s what all online marketers are looking for. Of course it ain’t that easy, it’s all about trial and error, finding the right source of traffic to feed into your funnel, traffic that converts into sales, that’s why you have to test, test, and test again until you find that magic formula, the one that gives you a continuous profit.
But wait, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it takes time, a lot of time to get your funnel right, so lets start with the basic steps to our sales funnel.
The concept is this:
1. Drive targeted traffic to a squeeze page or landing page (they are the same), this is the start of your funnel. On this web page you offer something enticing, an attractive offer, which is usually a free gift. In return that person has to give you their email address, to get the gift, when they do, they agree to opt in to become a subscriber to your autoresponder list. They have just entered your sales funnel, well done, you have your first sales lead.
2. When they gave you their email address, that person opted in to your automated list, this means that you now have permission to send them emails. This is where you can send them information on related issues to your business, over time you can gain their trust and hopefully sell them something. The key here is that you want to build trust with your new sales lead, don’t push them into buying your products too quick, be helpful, give them freebies, give them information. Hopefully the gift you offered them was related to your business niche, so now you know these people are interested in what information you might have to offer them, so give it to them.
3. Eventually after your targeted emails have done their job, that sales lead, buys something from you, well done, that’s what a sales funnel does, it sends people in one end and provides customers out the other, not just customers but your customers, now that’s a good feeling, don’t you think. But wait it doesn’t end there, you now start the process all over again, by sending your new customer onto a new subscribers list.
4. This is the best bit of your funnel, your new customer who bought from you can now be directed to a new list, your “buyers” list, I am sure you have heard the saying “The money is in the list”, well what this really means is the money is in the “buyers list”. By looking after your sales lead when they first entered your sales funnel, you can now benefit from your new buyer. With careful management of your buyers list, you maybe able to get more sales from them in the future. It’s far easier and cheaper to make sure you look after your current customers, than by trying to find new sales leads, that’s why it’s really important to do what you can for your customers and look after them.
This is the basic concept of what is a sales funnel, finding targeted leads and turning them into actual buyers, and from there, supplying your new buyer more information on your niche, to gain more sales in the future. A simple idea, that works very well in the online world of business, and is a very powerful thing when it works to its full potential.
