How to work from home and make money online

Spread the love

Hi Everyone,

So how to work from home and make money online, a difficult puzzle to solve for many people around the world to work out. There are many answers to this, here are my thoughts on this matter.

In many people’s eyes being able to make a living from the comfort of their home is the ideal way to be able to make a living, and at the same time live the lifestyle of their choice. Not having to answer to their boss, no more stress from getting stuck in the heavy traffic, or just the plain simple fact that you can start and finish your work whenever you please. These are some of the huge benefits from working from home.

However before you jump the gun, and ditch your job, you have to take in, that it is not as easy as you might think, and there are some downfalls in working from home too. Firstly the main benefit of doing a job, is that you know, that you have a start and finish time for each day that you work, and at the end of the month, you’ll get paid. That’s how it works right, well that all goes out the window, working from home for yourself.

Being at home, and making money for yourself, you are now the boss, and everything to do with whatever your pursuing to earn a living for yourself, is all down to you. From my experience, and I have been working from home for a few years now, is that time is your biggest enemy. There is just not enough time to get everything done by yourself, trust me, anyone who says you can make your fortune or even just a living by only working a couple of hours a day is talking nonsense. This can only happen, if you have bags of cash to throw around, and employ others to do what you should be doing, for most of us that’s totally out of the question.

Another downfall to working from home, is that you are now in a world where you hardly ever meet anyone, or even talk to anyone, I have had days when I have started talking to yourself, in fact, think about it, it’s quite probable that I talk to myself everyday. Joining online forums and work related groups does help, as you feel part of a community. Then there’s your family, how will they react to your new work from home status, especially if your partner is still doing a job, jealousy can raise its ugly head. All these thing has to be considered before you make that decision to jack in your job, and work from home.

Really I am not trying to put anyone off from changing their lives, it’s the best thing you can do. If your like me, you have this nagging thought going around your head everyday, that you can do better for yourself, by working for yourself. You know deep down inside of you, that you just have to find a way to get out of your current situation, and make it work. That’s your motivation for making this whole online thing work.

That bring us to the second part of our problem, how to make money online, my advice here is to remember starting an online business from scratch will take you time and effort. Rome wasn’t built in a day, well I can tell you that your online business will take considerably longer than that, you have to believe that you can do this, no matter what knock backs you encounter, you must have the belief that you are going to succeed at some point.

Please note: Don’t give up your job to work from home, until you are making money from your online business.

Then there is the money thing, if you really believe that you can start your online business without any cash, you are very much mistaken, don’t believe all the hype out there on the net, that you can change your life, with no money investment, that’s not going to happen. But I would say, is that it does not have to cost you a fortune to get your business going. For a small investment you can have your own websites, and products up and running on the web, and if you are prepared to put in the time required to promote your products then you have a chance.

But eventually you will need some investment for your promoting, to get traffic, traffic is what makes the internet work, without it, you have nothing. This is the one thing that separates the successful businesses online from everyone else, being able to generate traffic. In the early stages of your business, you aren’t going to have that much of it, so you either buy traffic, or put in your time and work at getting it.

Depending on what products or niches that you are thinking of setting up your online business in, there are ways to get traffic that does not require any investment in cash, but don’t think of these methods as free traffic sources, because by putting in your time, it has cost you something, how much value do you think your time is worth.

Please note: Buying targeted traffic saves you time – Free targeted traffic takes up your valuable time.

Then we come to the interesting bit, how are you going to put your online business together, where will you start. I am assuming that your current work knowledge is not connected to anything about marketing on the internet. Your going to need to learn how things are done online, and what will work for your business and what is a complete waste of your time. Tricky, as I am sure that you are aware of the many thousands of products out there, that promise to make you money online. However the reality is, only a small percentage of these products will actually teach you something that works online today.

How do you know, who to trust, it’s a very tricky situation. It’s fair to say, that most online marketers trying to build their businesses have been stung by these worthless products, on more than a few occasions. My advice is to do searches before you buy, check out what others are saying about that product or service, it’s fairly easy to find out if a product is going to benefit you, or it’s a waste of time buying it.

At the end of the day, don’t think that you can build your online dream, without proper training, that would be a mistake. It could take you years to figure out, what works online, it’s more cost effective to find a proper training program, that’s going to teach you how to really build a solid long term business online. It took me ages to find someone who I could trust to mentor me and believe that their methods would help me get to where I want my online business to be. You can checkout who is mentoring me right here, but only if you think it might help your online business.

  1. Hi Steve,

Excellent article about working from home. I would like to address the paragraph where you mentioned the downfall of working at home being the fact of not meeting people and being kind of alone.

I differ with that. When I was working at a real job, I was very busy as I had many responsibilities. Yes, I did meet people and went for lunch the odd time but my interactions were not very frequent.

Online I met more wonderful people to interact with and share ideas. So I guess it all depends what kind of a job do you have offline.

    Cheers,

    Dita

    1. Hi Dita,
Firstly let me thank you for taking the time to read my post, your comments are very kind.
You have a point, when I had a job, like you I had a lot of responsibilities, but was interacting with a lot of people every day.
When I started working from home, I did feel isolated, but since I have been a part of the QSC and learning online marketing in general it has got a lot better. That’s the best thing about being part of a group, I suppose, I like to have the feeling of not being totally on my own, although you can’t beat a real chat with someone.

      Thanks again,

      Steve
